Parent Education and Support Groups
The Parent Education and Support program offers the Nurturing Parenting© classes as well as ACE Community Parenting classes and an ongoing Circle of Parents Support Group.
Nurturing Parenting Classes – Targeted to parents with children ages 0-5. Both parent and children’s group facilitators are certified in this wonderful, nationally acclaimed and effective parenting program which focuses on:
- Learning successful ways to discipline children without shouting or spanking
- Developing empathy for one's children
- Understanding the motivation behind a child's behavior
- Learning about developmental stages, appropriate family expectations and roles.
Classes meet for 12-14 weeks, once a week on weekday mornings in Fort Collins, Evans (through a partnership with c.a.r.e.) and will soon be held in Loveland as well. Parents are highly encouraged to bring their children to the concurrent children’s groups which offer nurturing care and socialization through songs, games and crafts. Healthy snacks are provided each week for both parents and children. Classes are FREE and participants who attend most of the sessions earn a $50 “graduation certificate”.
ACE Community Parenting Classes (Anger management, Communication and
Empathy)- This is a collection of parenting approaches from the Nurturing Parenting, Love and Logic and Partners in Parenting curricula, targeted to parents with children ages 2-14.
- Classes meet for 10 weeks, once a week on weekday evenings in Fort Collins.
- Parents are highly encouraged to bring their children to the concurrent children’s groups which offer socialization and skill building through crafts, games, songs, stories and more. Healthy snacks are provided each week for the children.
- Classes are suited for court-ordered parents, parents going through a divorce, or general community members.
- There is a fee for each 10 week session, sliding fee scale available upon request.
Circle of Parents© Support group- This is a FREE ongoing parent support group which meets for one hour each week in Fort Collins. Groups are parent-led with the support of a trained group facilitator. In addition, a FREE developmentally appropriate children’s group is provided concurrent with the parent groups each week. Circle of Parents® offers anyone in a parenting role the opportunity to:
- Participate in supportive, nonjudgmental meetings with other parents
- Exchange ideas, share information, develop and practice new parenting skills.
- Learn about community resources
- Give and receive support.
